Director of Development
Communications
Princeton University, one of the world’s leading teaching and
research institutions, seeks an innovative, collaborative and
proactive leader to serve as the Director of Development
Communications and provide strategic vision and implementation
of a comprehensive communications plan for the Office of
Development. This is an exciting time to join the University as it
concludes the $1.75 billion Aspire Campaign, making it possible
for future generations of Princeton students and faculty to excel
and invent, to imagine and discover, to connect and thrive.
Reporting to the Vice President for Development, the Director
of Development Communications will be a key member of her
senior leadership team, which works together to engage, solicit,
steward and recognize the increasingly diverse and complex
population of Princeton alumni, parents and friends. The Director
of Development Communications will lead a nine-person staff
in the design and execution of an exceptional communications,
marketing and branding campaign for the entire fundraising
enterprise. This includes all aspects of print, web, video and
collateral media across a wide variety of vehicles, from mass
communications to events programs to individual letters and
proposals.
The Director of Development Communications must be a creative
and experienced professional with 5 to 10 years of experience
in marketing, publishing, or communications, ideally in higher
education, and a superb manager. Direct personal experience
in fundraising, alumni relations or other advancement offices is
required. The ideal candidate will have the ability to synthesize
the requirements of multiple internal partners into cohesive and
compelling communications, both in terms of creative impact and
key messages. Other key requirements include the ability to build
and lead a high performing communications staff, a collaborative
and collegial orientation, superlative writing and editorial skills,
and substantial experience in utilizing the web and new media
as communications vehicles. A bachelor’s degree is required; an
advanced degree is preferred.

Director of Capital Campaign
We are seeking a Director of Capital Campaigns who will be responsible
for helping plan, implement, and successfully conclude all University
capital campaigns. S/he will report to the Vice President for University
Advancement and serve as a member of the Advancement Leadership
Team. The position will work closely with the Executive Directors of
Development, Constituent Services, University Relations, and Alumni
& Parent Programs. The Director of Capital Campaigns will work
closely with and support the volunteer campaign cabinet.
Requirements include: Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 5
years of fundraising experience planning and implementing capital
campaigns; a history of success developing and managing relationships
with volunteer leadership and major donors/prospects; previous
work with campaign counsel and familiarity with feasibility studies;
proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
familiar with constituent databases (Sungard Advance preferred);
professional in appearance, demeanor, and decision-making; strong
communication skills and a clear, concise writing style; ability to focus
on broad campaign issues while simultaneously managing specific
projects and activities; willingness to travel and work evenings and
weekends as necessary. Preference will be given to candidates with
prior higher education campaign experience, a masters degree, and
CFRE/ACFRE certification.

The Director of Advancement reports directly to Ellen Moceri, the
Head of School, and manages/leads a team of seven professional
and support staff members in alumni and development. We seek
a dynamic and sophisticated senior fund-raising professional who
is committed to serving - along with the Head of School - as the
School’s chief fundraiser especially major gifts from both parents
and alumni.
10+ years of successful fundraising experience are required.
Ability to excel with cultivating and closing major gift prospects is
required. A strong preference for experience with an independent
school and/or higher education is strongly preferred. Capital
campaign experience is essential. Ability to interact effectively
with all constituencies of the School community including the
Head of School, Trustees, staff, faculty, alumni and parents is
required. B.A. degree is required.
There are 4,500 alumni and several hundred parents. The current
endowment is approximately $25 million. The School is currently
embarked on a mini-capital campaign for $10 million to build a
state-of-the-art 50 meter Olympic sized swimming pool. In the
next few years the school will be planning a $50 million capital
campaign to accomplish the upper school master plan.
