Director of Development School of Education (Search R40658) The University of Massachusetts Amherst has an opening for a Director of Development for its School of Education and is seeking a highly experienced, motivated and energetic individual to join its Development team as the campus prepares for a new comprehensive campaign. A national public research university and the flagship campus of the Commonwealth’s university system, UMass Amherst is located in the top

cosmopolitan culture and energy. With more than 26,000 students, the
campus showcases top-rate undergraduate and graduate programs, top-notch
faculty and competitive NCAA Division I athletics.
The Director of Development for the School of Education is responsible for
designing and implementing a comprehensive development program for the
School. The program incorporates both campaign and annual fundraising,
with particular emphasis on major individual, corporate, foundation, and
planned gifts. The Director of Development reports to the Associate Vice
Chancellor for Constituent Programs and also works closely with the Dean
of the School.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Five or more years experience of
demonstrated success in major gifts fundraising in a development program,
preferably with an educational institution (equivalent experience in business
or industry will be considered). Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting
and closing major gifts. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Excellent administrative skills. Ability and willingness to travel and work
evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree.
Management experience. Experience working with senior-level executives.
Knowledge of prospect management systems. Knowledge of database
fundraising software.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Active Minds is seeking an experienced development professional to
oversee its fund-raising efforts. Reporting directly to Executive Director,
the Director of Development will be an energetic self-starter capable of
managing and implementing fund-raising strategies and programs and
assist the Executive Director in reaching the organization’s overall fund-raising goals. He/she will be responsible for all aspects of fund raising
including creating and implementing a robust development strategy,
and building and maintaining a database of and relationships with
individual, foundation, and corporate supporters. A bachelor’s degree
and minimum four years of related fund raising experience are required.
The candidate must have a well-documented record of accomplishments
in a not-for-profit or similar organization. Preference given to candidates
with experience in mental health or higher education.
