North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University invites applications and nominations
for the position of Vice Chancellor for University Advancement.
As a direct report to the Chancellor and a member of the Chancellor’s Executive Cabinet, the
Vice Chancellor for University Advancement is responsible for providing leadership to the
university’s advancement program, as well as defining a vision that supports the university’s
goals, objectives and strategic priorities. The Vice Chancellor develops and administers
processes for strategic advancement planning, prospect management, volunteer relations and
support; and facilitates the University Board of Trustees’ quarterly institutional advancement
committee meeting. The Vice Chancellor is responsible for fundraising through annual,
corporate, and foundation planned and major gift programs; alumni cultivation and stewardship
services for approximately 33,000 graduates; public relations through local, state and national
affairs as well as marketing, news services, photo-video communications, University website and
university publications. The Vice Chancellor serves as a liaison for the University’s affiliated
entities; and serves as the Executive Director of the North Carolina A&T University Foundation,
a non-profit corporation designed to receive and administer funds from the private sector.
Vice President for University Advancement
Savannah State University (SSU) invites nominations and applications for the position of vice president for
university advancement. The University is the oldest public historically black institution in the state of Georgia
and a fully accredited unit of the University System of Georgia. It is seeking a dynamic, accomplished, and creative
leader who will oversee the development and implementation of the University’s advancement goals as well as
direct the integrated university advancement units which include fundraising, development, alumni relations,
and marketing and communications. Embracing the university’s mission of developing productive members of a
global society through high quality instruction, scholarship, research, service, and community involvement, the
vice president for university advancement must be highly motivated and a collaborative strategist with skill sets
for transforming the University’s advancement program into a distinctive model for securing resources to fulfill
SSU’s educational mission.
North Carolina A&T State University requires an earned master’s degree or equivalent (bachelor’s
degree with a minimum of five or more years of management level experience in Advancement or a
relevant senior level management experience), effective management, dynamic leadership, creative
thinking, and enthusiasm for excellence to a maturing environment and administrative team eager to
expand the base and level of support for the University’s continued success. Preferred candidates
will possess: a minimum of five or more years of management level experience in Advancement
or an equivalent senior level management experience; extensive successful and diverse fund-raising experience, including planning and implementing a successful capital campaign;
demonstrated success as a creative, collaborative, and effective manager; experience in an
academic environ-ment, preferably in a research university; demonstrated success in
developing an effective volunteer structure; knowledge of local and national funding sources; the
ability and willingness to travel frequently; and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
that demonstrate support for the mission, philosophy and values of the University.

The vice president for university advancement reports to, and advises the president on matters of fundraising and
development of the institution’s external resources. As the chief advancement officer, the successful candidate will
serve as executive director of the University Foundation. The vice president is responsible for the orchestration of
the University’s comprehensive capital campaigns, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts, prospect research and
management, alumni relations, and the coordination of communication with internal and external institutional
constituencies. The vice president for university advancement represents and acts for the president on matters of
fundraising and philanthropy. He/she is expected to maintain collaborative working relationships with internal
and external University constituencies.
Founded in 1890 as a land-grant institution of higher education, SSU serves more than 4,500 students who are
enrolled in a nurturing educational environment that embraces social and intellectual diversity and prepares them
to perform at higher levels of economic productivity, social responsibility, and excellence in their chosen fields

The successful candidate for the position must have senior level experience and a successful record of fundraising
in a university or related non-profit organization; a minimum of a Master’s degree in an appropriate field; excellent
oral and written communication skills; exceptional public relations skills; strong analytical and organizational
skills; skills for conducting a successful capital campaign; understanding of and the ability to manage a university
foundation; the ability to interact effectively with internal and external constituencies; experience in donor
cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; and the ability to define a vision, set goals and strengthen the culture of
philanthropy at the University.
